Food & Nutrition - Child Care Centres

YMCA OSHC - Food & Nutrition

As part of our services to families, we provide all meals to children in care, cooked in the centre by a qualified cook.

The YMCA recognises that good nutrition is critical for optimal growth, activity and learning. We incorporate positive learning experiences into meal and snack times where good nutritional food habits are developed in an inclusive, fun, happy, social and culturally diverse environment.

Our child care service plays an important role in promoting healthy eating and physical activity to children in our care, while providing an environment that fosters a positive healthy lifestyle. We recognise a healthy diet can improve behaviours critical to early learning and physical development.

YMCA Child Care Centres adheres to guidelines provided by Nutrition Australia which aims to promote the health and wellbeing of all Australians and Children. Each service has an approved Food Business Licence to ensure that the services comply with the Food Act and Food Safety Standards.
